Golaem

Founded in 2009, headquartered in Chantepie, France, Golaem is a spin-off from Inria and an innovative SME which develops software technologies to model, animate and control plenty of expressive autonomous characters.

Hundreds of Visual Effects and Animation studios from all over the globe use Golaem to bring life to commercials, episodic productions, feature films and games. Golaem was awarded a Technology and Engineering Emmy® Award in 2019, the Innovation Prize from the French Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques for its Character Layout Tools in 2020, a Primetime Engineering Emmy® Award in 2021 and the best innovation of the year award for Golaem 8 at the Digital Creation Genie Awards ceremony in 2022.

Golaem Crowd is an artist-oriented crowd simulation software. It embeds a dedicated animation engine which relies on a generic skeleton representation to perform motion retargeting, motion synchronization and blending of thousands of characters in real-time. Those motions can be composed of bones, blendshapes, vertex animation caches or any custom deformer animations. A behavior layer allows to control when and how these animations are started or combined.

Golaem Engine is a standalone and deterministic execution engine which allows running character simulations and interacting with them in real time. It comes with a reference implementation in Unreal Engine and can easily be integrated into other platforms.

Golaem Deep is a deep learning framework for the Media & Entertainment industry, enabling artists to train deep learning models on their own data, directly from Autodesk Maya, in order to accelerate their work (accelerating rigs, generating editable facial animations, …).

Within the Sharespace project, Golaem will address the real-time animation of avatars and autonomous characters. For this purpose, Golaem will take benefits and extend its software products and technologies.
