Workshop on tech ethics

Ethics has increasingly become part and parcel of publicly funded technology projects, and corporations have also frequently established their own ethics boards. While there has been an explosion of technology guidelines, there is reduced focus on the implementation and study of the effectiveness of these ethics proposals.

This one-day interdisciplinary workshop will explore if, when, where and what kind of ethics have efficacy in our current landscape. The workshop will also be an opportunity to showcase Good Enough Ethics (GEE), developed as part of the Horizon Europe EU-funded project SHARESPACE, and to share good practice between ethicists and technologists alike in a cross-disciplinary roundtable. We would like to invite academics, industry and policy makers to explore these issues.

This event is organised by Professor Kathleen Richardson and Dr Kathleen Bryson (De Montfort University). Abstracts and any questions should be submitted to Kathleen Bryson
(Kathleen.Bryson@dmu.ac.uk). Abstracts of 500 words (excluding bibliography) should be submitted by email by the 15 March 2025. Accepted proposals will be notified by 15 April 2025.

We can support a small number of bursaries for travel and overnight stay; please contact us for more information.
