New video in our YouTube series SHARESPACE Explained! In this series we are explaining our core concepts, research, and technology. For this fourth video, we explain one of the three Real World Scenarios: Health.
In this video, Anna Server of Vall d’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona and Azucena Garcia-Palacios of Universitat Jaume I De Castellon talk about their research on using virtual and augmented reality to improve chronic low back pain treatment. They discuss the challenges patients face, such as poor adherence to treatment, fear of movement (kinesiophobia), and difficulty traveling for therapy. By integrating VR and avatars, patients can engage in rehabilitation from home, enhancing treatment adherence and social interaction. Ongoing studies aim to evaluate usability, patient experience, and the effectiveness of this technology in pain management.
